ABOUT ME

When I left school at 17, one of the first jobs I had was as a Trainee Metal Polisher. I soon discovered it was rewarding but filthy work. We polished everything you could think of: Car parts, antiques, motorcycle engines, clock parts, brass window frames, and even hundreds of metres of brass bannister rails sent to Saudi Arabia for Sheiks. Unfortunately, after a few years, the company I was working for had some financial difficulties and insisted I worked as a self-employed Metal Polisher. Basically, this meant that I only got paid for the work they supplied us with, which, although sometimes busy at other times was very slow. so after a while, I gave it up to take a job with a more regular income. However, I still look back with fondness as I remember the look of awe on peoples' faces as we carried the freshly polished brass bannisters, gleaming in the sunlight, in contrast to our dirty black faces, over the estate for lacquering.

Many years later I now have a much smaller business set up in my own garage with a 2HP polishing lathe. As it's on my own premises, it means my overheads are virtually non-existent, so I can offer very competitive prices but still with my knowledge and experience gained within the industry.
